Hidden Lakes Senior Living Community was originally established in 1959 as the Florida Baptist Retirement Center. It was born from the vision to provide a ministry for older adults who needed care and community.
In April 1960, Walter and Elvira Buckingham donated 23 acres of land in Vero Beach to the Florida Baptist State Convention to build this community. Construction began later that year, and by 1961, the first residents were welcomed into the completed phase one of the community. Over the years, Hidden Lakes expanded its services, adding independent cottages, a skilled nursing unit, and an assisted living neighborhood.
Today, Hidden Lakes offers 42 independent living units, a 17-bed assisted living neighborhood, and a 24-bed skilled nursing unit, providing a complete continuum of care. While the name has changed, our mission remains steadfast: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents, families, and team members through compassionate care and service.
